What Are The Benefits and Defects of PP Coroplast

Corrugated plastic. Plastic. Coroplast. This sign and plastic film material goes by many names and has even more uses. Because of its unique combination of durability and affordability, corrugated plastic sheeting is a very popular choice for short-term signs and containers.

If you're considering corrugated plastic for an upcoming project, here's everything you need to know and consider about this highly versatile material.

What is PP coroplast ?

PP coroplast is the trade name of the world's largest manufacturer of corrugated plastics. Corrugated plastic sheeting is essentially plastic cardboard made from three thin layers of a polypropylene plastic substrate. The product consists of a serrated plastic layer sandwiched between two layers of smooth plastic sheeting (also known as double-walled plastic sheeting). Clopper's layered construction makes the corrugated plastic very light and shock absorbent.

Common Uses

The most common use of corrugated plastic is for temporary outdoor signage, especially for yards. Event signs, home security notices, real estate signs, "for sale" signs and parking signs are examples of outdoor signs, often made of corrugated plastic sheeting.

PP coroplast can also be used to construct containers and packaging. Many postal services use coroplast for mailers because of its light weight and strength.

Benefits

Coroplast is a unique combination of durability, affordability, lightness and flexibility. This combination makes it extremely versatile and can be used for a variety of projects and displays.

Durability - PP coroplast board is not invincible or forever on display, but it can take a serious beating from rain, sunlight or manual handling before showing any signs of deterioration. PP coroplast is also impervious to damage from insects and rodents.

Affordable - PP coroplast is the least expensive outdoor display material on the market. Printing and cutting on coroplast is a simple and inexpensive process that does not require highly specialized equipment.

Lightweight - There are no complications with transporting, distributing and displaying PP coroplast. You never have to worry about walls collapsing or anyone losing a toe if they do.

Flexible - Collop is strong enough to lay flat on its own, but flexible enough to give you a variety of options. Cut it, bend it, bind it, punch holes in it as cable loops ...... whatever you need to do!

Disadvantages

We recommend PP coroplast for a variety of projects, but it's certainly not for everyone. Here are some reasons why you might consider using a different sign material.

PP coroplast Doesn't look expensive or permanent, we don't recommend using corrugated plastic as the primary permanent sign for your business.

Photos can be printed on corrugated plastic, but it's not the best medium for photo printing. If your priority is that the photos look great, we recommend foam core.

PP coroplast will bend and warp, especially when exposed to high temperatures or left in a hot car. If you need a material that will remain rigid no matter what, we recommend Sintra.

Clorox may be non-toxic and easy to recycle, but it is not particularly environmentally friendly to produce. If environmental sustainability is an important factor in your project, consider using recycled Clorox or eco-plastic materials rather than purchasing new corrugated plastic sheets.

The longevity

As with any material, the service life of a clopper display depends on the conditions in which it is placed. When displayed outdoors under normal conditions, coroplast typically lasts about a year before it may begin to show some warping or discoloration. When laminated with a matte finish for additional protection, the coroplast sign will look its best for a longer period of time. Clopper will last almost forever when indoors and not subject to much wear and tear.
